Think You May Have Low Testosterone? This List May Help You Decide

Health & Medical Blog

As a man who thinks that they may have a low amount of testosterone, it can be scary to ponder the possibility. No one really wants to go and ask their doctor to further investigate the issue. However, with these helpful tips, you may be able to bring a little more information to your physician, limiting the amount of testing you require. There are several signs that you may be suffering from low testosterone.

Fatigue

It is no secret that hormones can affect your energy levels. A low level of testosterone may leave you feeling groggy after a full night of sleep, or absolutely exhausted by the end of the workday. If you feel like your energy levels have declined substantially, you may want to get your testosterone levels checked.

Loss of Muscle

Testosterone is also responsible for producing and maintaining a man's muscle mass. Decreased muscle mass may not be extremely noticeable in functionality, but you may just notice that certain tasks require a little more effort than they used to. With low testosterone, you may also find that workouts that were once easy for you have become more difficult. Low T treatments can help you to get some of your muscle mass back.

Sexual Difficulty

For many men (and their partners), the most frustrating part of experiencing low testosterone is the propensity for sexual difficulties. This condition includes both a low desire for sexual activity as well as the inability to obtain or retain an erection. There are multiple treatments available to help with this sexual challenge, including medications, injections, and equipment.

Mood Shifts

As with women who experience an influx or decrease in their hormones, men may experience extreme mood shifts that are hard to deal with. This can include depression, anxiety, spurts of intense anger, and even extreme happiness. This symptom can sometimes be mistaken for a mental illness, though if taken in stride with the other symptoms of low testosterone, it makes perfect sense. Your doctor may be able to help you piece together your symptoms to find the underlying problem.

If you are suffering from some of these symptoms, you may want to keep a journal of how frequently you experience them and then take that information to your doctor. Low testosterone levels can be extremely challenging for any man to deal with, but there are several treatments available nowadays. Talk to your doctor for more information.
