When A Headache Is More Than Just A Headache

Health & Medical Blog

Headaches can range from a minor pain that only lasts a short while to a headache that causes you other concerning health issues and can last for hours. There may be times when your headache is more than just a minor headache, and these cases should send you into urgent care for help.

You're Seeing Halos

If you're seeing halos around lights and other lit up items, it could be your headache affecting your vision. If you're seeing halos, it could be a migraine headache and could go away with some time and over-the-counter pain medication, or it could worsen and last for days. If you're seeing these halos and aren't able to focus or concentrate or are having difficulty even opening your eyes, you should get to urgent care.

You're Nauseous or Throwing Up

If you're nauseous from your headache or it's causing you to throw up, it can be difficult to keep anything down. If this lasts for too long, you could easily dehydrate. If you're having this issue, get to urgent care for an exam and for any necessary treatment. If you're dehydrated, it can lead to further health concerns. Dehydration can cause issues with the kidneys and can also be hard on the heart as well.

You're Lightheaded or Are Passing Out

If you're feeling lightheaded or have passed out due to your headache, it could be a severe migraine. If you're passing out, it could be extremely dangerous. You could pass out while driving or hurt your head when you pass out depending on where you fall. If you are passing out or you feel lightheaded, get to urgent care for help and proper medical attention to prevent further injury to yourself or even to others around you.

Your Headache Is Long Lasting

If your headache is lasting a long time, you should get to urgent care to be examined to rule out any other health concerns. Migraine headaches can last a long time, but if this headache is lasting an unusually long time for you or you are worried at all about how long it is lasting, you should get to urgent care.

Headaches can affect everyone differently, and they can be caused by a number of different things. If you are experiencing a headache that is unusual or if your headache is causing you other health concerns, it may be a migraine or something else. Get to urgent care for treatment if you're concerned.

After trying a lot of different options, I finally found that there are a few things that work exceptionally well. I created this site to journal my experience with chronic heartburn and the treatment options that I've tried. I hope that it helps you if you're struggling with heartburn problems as well.
