If you are going in for your first acupuncture treatment, and you want the treatment to be as effective as possible, you need to know what to do before and after you go in for treatment.
Before You Go In For Treatment
Before you go in for your first treatment, you want to make sure that you are ready to focus all of your energy on your treatment and on the healing process. That means that your body needs to be strong in order to focus on healing.
You should eat before you go in for treatment. If your last meal was at breakfast hours ago and you skipped lunch, your body will not have the energy it needs to dedicate to the acupuncture process. Make sure that you add in time to eat proper meals on the day that you are going to get acupuncture treatment.
You need to also make sure that your body is well hydrated. This will help your body respond well to the treatment. If you do not normally drink a lot of water during the day, bring a water bottle with you on the day you have your acupuncture treatment scheduled and try to drink the entire water bottle before you go for your treatment.
In general, try to reduce your stress level and don't overdo it physically or mentally so that you can really focus on your treatment and healing process.
After Your Treatment Session
Once you have completed your first treatment, you need to be patient. Your body has just been poked and prodded and worked on; there is a good chance that you are not going to feel better the second you leave the acupuncturist's office. It is similar to getting a massage; it will feel good in the long term, but right afterwards you may be a little sore from having your muscles and your body worked on and worked out.
You should also try to stay in a healthy state of mind after you leave your treatment session. Ideally, you should avoid going back into a high stress environment immediately after you leave your treatment session.
You should take the afternoon to eat, rest and let your body heal and adjust after you go in for your first acupuncture treatment. You should also drink plenty of water so your body can flush your systems.
Make sure that you have as much energy as possible when you go in for your treatment so you can direct all your available energy towards the healing process. After your treatment, remember to be patient; acupuncture is a process, and your body needs time to heal from the treatment.

As I've gotten older, I've found that my body is less able to tolerate spicy, greasy, and heavy foods. While I never used to struggle with heartburn, it's become a common occurrence. I spent a lot of time talking with my doctor and reading about all kinds of heartburn relief options. After trying a lot of different options, I finally found that there are a few things that work exceptionally well. I created this site to journal my experience with chronic heartburn and the treatment options that I've tried. I hope that it helps you if you're struggling with heartburn problems as well.
